Today, I used my new electric cream separator to separate cream from 3 gallons of milk. Ended up with a little over a quart of heavy cream, which is currently being made into BUTTER. Then, I used the byproduct (not skim, like maybe 2-3%) to make 3 pounds of paneer cheese.
On a related note, as of yesterday I have 2 gallons of milk PER DAY to use outside of the barn. Because of this excess, I have renewed my pet milk license with the Indiana State Chemist office (Indiana License #270829). I now have raw Nigerian Dwarf milk (running 6-8% butterfat) available fresh or frozen NOT FOR HUMAN CONSUMPTION. Great for soap and crafts and for feeding animals. Clean, annually tested herd. $5 per half gallon. Pick up at the farm by appointment only.
