After everyone was dried off and we knew that she was done delivering babies, and everyone was on their feet, we started trying to get them to nurse. Three of the babies caught on very quickly (for newborns) and Momma Precious was diligently tending her babies, but we noticed that the little chocolate buckling would not eat, and appeared to not have a suckle reflex. After several hours working with him and getting him hydrated, and energized we seemed to be making progress. At 3AM, Larry and Kathie took the baby goat home with them to continue nursing him overnight. Despite our best efforts, we could not keep his body temperature up and he passed away around noon today.
After he passed, I suggested that we name this little guy who was with us for such a short time. You always do everything you can, but sometimes it just wasn't meant to be.
RIP Twin Willows SB Angelo
